Salary Range: $15.00 - $16.00 Hourly

Travel Percentage:
Up to 25%

Under the supervision of the Shift Supervisor/Senior Shift Supervisor, the Janitor is responsible for performing basic janitorial duties for the Eastside Shelter. The Janitor is responsible for maintaining the cleanliness of both inside the shelter and the outside grounds of the shelter.

• Sweeping, and mopping the floors and stairways.
• Clean and sanitize bathrooms.
• Clean kitchen/dining room countertops, microwaves and refrigerators.
• Empty all trash cans, clean receptacles, and replace liners as necessary.
• Clean laundry rooms.
• Clean windowsills and windows.
• Clean resident rooms after discharge.
• Maintain janitor closets in a clean, organized and safe manner.
• Restock supplies in the bathroom and common areas.

• General maintenance of the outside grounds.
• Participates in staff meetings and other meetings as requested.
• All shift staff are required to be awake and alert during their duty hours.
• Upholds the vision, mission and values of St. Vincent de Paul.
• Assists with and attends special events held by the Center and St. Vincent de Paul as necessary.
• Other duties as assigned, within the scope of the position.

• High School Diploma or GED preferred
• 2 years janitorial experience.
• Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing.
• Ability to relate in a courteous, non-judgmental manner with persons from all ethnic, socioeconomic, and religious backgrounds.
• Desire and ability to work as a team player.

XPrimarily Indoor Work

XMEDIUM WORK:
Lifting 50 pounds maximum with frequent lifting and/or carrying of objects up to 25 pounds.
