Director of Nursing, Psychiatry (Nurse Manager) Job Overview
The Nurse Manager (Director of Nursing) is a member of Med Star Health entity-based Division of Nursing's (DON) leadership/management team and is responsible for the adult inpatient psychiatric unit, child and adolescent psychiatric unit and psychiatric ED unit of organized nursing and patient care services.

- Med Star Franklin Square Medical Center achieved its 4th Magnet Designation in 2024, one of 3 MD systems to achieve this status.
- BSN from a nationally accredited program required;
Master's degree in Nursing or health related field from a nationally accredited program preferred. - 4 years of RN experience required; 2 years of management and leadership experience preferred, particularly in an inpatient psychiatric environment; at least 2 years of psychiatric RN experience strongly preferred.
- Active MD RN License or Active Compact State RN and Basic Life Support for Healthcare providers required (AHA or American Red Cross). PMH-BC strongly preferred.
- 29 bed unit
- Involuntary and voluntary patients
- Short stay crisis stabilization unit
- Strong partnership with security team
- Collaborative and hands‑on providers who respect nurses
- Welcoming, team‑oriented group of nurses
- Busy specialized psychiatric emergency unit, located within the main medical ED
- Treats pediatric and adult patients
- Security has a strong partnership and presence with the unit and Baltimore County officer stationed with the Main ED
- Staffed with psychiatric counselors and RNs
- 11 bed unit serving 11–17 year‑olds
- Staffed with RNs and psychiatric counselors
- Heavily based on family therapy
- Highly functional and autonomous team
