Physician Assistant/Acute Care Nurse Practitioner – General Surgery (Med Star Franklin Square)
Med Star Medical Group is seeking an experienced Physician Assistant or Acute Care Nurse Practitioner to join our team of 13 Advanced Practice Providers. The role requires first‑assist responsibility across multiple surgical specialties, including general surgery, orthopedics, neurosurgery, plastic surgery, thoracic, OB/GYN, gynonc, and vascular surgery. Candidates must be a certified ACNP; FNPs are not eligible. Completion of the RN First Assist course is required.
Job Summary- First Assist in a broad range of surgical procedures
- Perioperative patient management
- Ordering and interpreting diagnostic lab tests
- Conducting surgical history and physical exams
- Inpatient rounding and consultations
- Wound care and bedside procedures under supervision
- Medication reconciliation and coordination of post‑discharge follow‑up
- Patient and family education
- Collaboration with physicians and clinical staff to maintain continuity of care
- Participation in development and revision of medical/surgical protocols
- Training of staff and students
- Certified Acute Care Nurse Practitioner (ACNP)
- Completion of RN First Assist course
- Strong perioperative clinical experience
- Ability to work independently in a fast‑paced surgical environment
