- Assists with the installation, connection, and rigging in a high‑voltage environment.
- Erect, frame, and replace poles.
- Operations of aerial trucks, digger derricks, and associated equipment.
- Assists in the construction of transmission and substation facilities.
- Works on various structure types of transmission lines at voltages from 69 kV to 500 kV.
- Establishes OSHA and company/customer safety requirements.
- Must be 18 years of age or older.
- Ability to climb wood poles, steel poles, and lattice steel towers without assistance of a boom or bucket truck.
- Ability to work at heights up to and above 100 feet.
- Able to drive all vehicles assigned to the line crew.
- Experience with digger derricks and bucket trucks is required.
- Upon offer, employees are required to pass a pre‑employment drug screen and background and/or MVR check.
- CDL highly preferred but not required.
- Driver license required.
- Must be willing to travel and work away from home.
- OCCASIONAL (up to 33%):
Sitting, kneeling, and crawling. - FREQUENT (up to 66%):
Stooping, squatting, body twisting, manual dexterity, reading, climbing ladders, climbing on/off truck, climbing poles, gripping, and climbing stairs. - CONTINUOUS (up to 100%):
Standing, walking, sense of touch, speaking clearly, seeing distant/close, reaching, range of motion, hearing, speech range, depth perception, color vision, lifting up to 10 lbs to 50 lbs, balancing, and handling 10–50 lbs.
Due to the inherent dangers of the industry and requirements to work with or around hazardous equipment, employees must have sufficient eyesight, maintain attention and concentration for extended periods, withstand exposure to all kinds of weather while completing work assignments, wear personal protective equipment as necessary, enter and exit a vehicle numerous times a day, traverse various terrain, execute duties throughout a standard 8‑ or 10‑hour day, communicate with others, read, write, and comprehend instructions, and handle conflict professionally.
- Work nights, weekends, and holidays for extended periods; may be required to perform duties as part of recovery force during emergencies and disasters.
- Works around hazardous equipment.
- Works with energized parts or equipment.
- Works around excessive noise from machines, jackhammers, chainsaws and other equipment; wears proper hearing protection.
- Works at varying heights above ground, in manholes, and/or in confined spaces with proper personal protective equipment.
