$16/hour;
Hours - when needed, mornings

Under the direction the Recreation Supervisor, the Preschool Substitute Teacher is responsible for creating a positive, nurturing, and caring environment for children in the Roselle Park District Preschool. This Preschool substitute teacher will follow and implement lesson plans and essential functions appropriate for children ages 3-5 years old and assisting with additional classes as deemed by the Recreation Supervisor.

• Preferred :
  Candidate has a lead teacher certification or Bachelor's degree in Early Childhood Education, Elementary Education, or related field and/or current Illinois teaching certificate, or at least 3 years of experience in an early childhood setting, day care.
• Position requires a basic knowledge of Microsoft Office, First Aid and CPR certification.

Essential duties and responsibilities may include, but are not limited to, any combination of the following tasks:

• Instruction:
  Follow and conduct a developmentally appropriate preschool curriculum
• Plan and implement appropriate activities to meet the physical, emotional, intellectual, and social needs of preschool aged children
• Provide various experiences and activities including songs, projects, games, and stories
• Ensure equipment and the facility are clean, well maintained, and safe at all times
• Establish procedures including acceptable rules and disciplinary policies
• Be familiar with emergency procedures
• Supervision:
  Supervise children in the preschool
• Ensure children are supervised at all times
• Provide a safe and secure environment for children to feel comfortable
• Establish routines and provide positive guidance and reinforcement
• Clearly and effectively communicate in a manner that children understand
• Integrate children with special needs in a positive and respectful manner
• Implement positive discipline when required
• Observe children and make note of progress
• Build self-esteem and comfort children
• Communication:
  Communicate with staff, parents, and members of the community
• Discuss identified problems and needs with supervisor and coworkers as appropriate
• Perform other related duties as required
• Demonstrate good judgment and problem-solving skills
• Reinforce appropriate safety practices and standards as applicable
• Support and administer all policies of the Roselle Park District
