Position: Purchasing Management Lead. Job in Roselle Move Collective Jobs

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead, coach, and nurture a team of six Purchasing Planners to excel in mechanical and electrical purchasing and inventory strategies.
  • Establish clear performance goals and priorities that align with business objectives and overall supply chain targets.
  • Conduct regular one‑on‑one meetings, performance reviews, developmental plans, and talent assessments to foster growth.
  • Cultivate a high-performance team culture that prioritizes accountability, teamwork, urgency, and continuous improvement.
  • Ensure workload balance, coverage, and succession planning among planners across product lines.
  • Oversee inventory planning and purchasing activities for the APT business across all associated manufacturing locations.
  • Ensure inventory figures, product turns, service levels, and backorder rates align with key performance indicators (KPIs) and corporate expectations.
  • Develop purchasing strategies for mechanical and electrical components that align with manufacturing capacity, demand forecasts, and supplier limitations.
  • Collaborate with Category Managers to synchronize sourcing strategies, select suppliers, and create risk mitigation plans.
  • Drive supplier engagement strategies, focusing on:
    Capacity planning;
    Lead time management;
    Inventory positioning;
    Escalation and recovery strategies.
  • Act as a central point of escalation for supplier performance issues, shortages, or critical supply concerns.
  • Enhance supplier relationships to promote reliability, responsiveness, and cost efficiency.
  • Function as the main procurement planning liaison among:
    Manufacturing plants;
    Supply base;
    Category Management;
    Logistics and Warehousing.
  • Maintain clear communication regarding plant needs, supplier capacities, and demand fluctuations.
  • Partner with plant leadership to confirm inventory targets and production needs.
  • Prepare planners effectively for demand variability and improve forecast accuracy.
  • Lead monthly Sales, Inventory, and Operations Planning (SIOP) meetings, ensuring visibility of risks, constraints, and actionable plans.
  • Oversee the development and implementation of recovery plans for material shortages and backorders.
  • Ensure effective expediting, logistics coordination, and material movement practices.
  • Define and track performance metrics, including:
    Inventory turnover rates;
    Backorder levels;
    On‑time delivery to manufacturing plants;
    Supplier performance.
  • Utilize data and analytics to pinpoint trends, gaps, and areas for improvement.
  • Champion standardization, automation, and best practices within the planning team.
  • Ensure adherence to company processes and serve as the primary point of accountability for audit preparedness.
Qualifications Education

A Bachelor's degree is required, preferably in Supply Chain, Business, Operations, or Engineering.

Experience
  • Over 10 years of progressive experience in purchasing, inventory planning, or supply chain roles.
  • At least 7 years of experience in people management, specifically with teams of planners or buyers.
  • A strong foundation in manufacturing, equipment, or industrial supply chains.
  • Working knowledge of inventory financials, working capital, and cost aspects.
  • Skilled in balancing service levels, inventory management, and cost factors at a portfolio level.
  • Proven ability to manage intricate supplier networks and multi‑plant inventory systems.
  • Demonstrated experience in fast‑paced environments with diverse SKUs and low volume production.
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Navision.
  • Expertise in Excel for planning, analytics, and reporting.
  • Adept at utilizing ERP systems and reporting tools for effective KPI management and strategic decision‑making.
