Job Description:

Manufacturing Engineer

This Manufacturing Engineer role focuses on analyzing and improving manufacturing processes to enhance quality, reduce costs, and increase efficiency. The position involves researching, designing, modifying, and testing manufacturing methods and equipment, while collaborating closely with production teams and equipment vendors. The engineer will lead process improvement initiatives, support new product launches, and develop robust procedures that help the organization meet performance and budgetary goals.

Responsibilities

+ Study product requirements and existing manufacturing processes to understand current capabilities and constraints.

+ Research, design, modify, and test manufacturing methods and equipment to improve performance and reliability.

+ Evaluate existing manufacturing processes and workflows to identify potential areas for improvement in quality, cost, and efficiency.

+ Lead and carry out process improvement initiatives, problem resolution activities, and related project management tasks.

+ Improve manufacturing processes and methods to achieve cost reduction, quality enhancement, and greater operational efficiency.

+ Prepare and present detailed plans for process improvements and coordinate their deployment across the organization.

+ Train team members on new or revised processes, methods, and equipment, ensuring proper adoption and understanding.

+ Perform research, design, and development of manufacturing processes, including production flow, assembly methods, and production equipment.

+ Prepare and maintain detailed layouts of buildings, production lines, and equipment to support efficient operations.

+ Coordinate the manufacturing launch of new or revised products, including establishing goals, training team members, and evaluating results.

+ Create and refine processes and procedures to help the organization meet budgetary goals and performance quotas.

+ Establish effective and efficient work sequences to optimize throughput and minimize waste.

+ Devise innovative solutions to existing manufacturing problems, focusing on root cause analysis and sustainable corrective actions.

+ Design, develop, and test tools, fixtures, machinery, and equipment to support recommended manufacturing methods.

+ Perform product and process analysis to identify opportunities for cost reduction, quality improvement, safety enhancement, improved efficiency, and training needs.

+ Collaborate with equipment vendors to evaluate and implement new technologies, tools, and machinery that support manufacturing objectives.

Essential Skills

+ Proven experience in manufacturing engineering with a focus on process improvement and continuous improvement.

+ Strong knowledge of process improvement methodologies and tools, particularly in a manufacturing environment.

+ Hands-on experience with lean manufacturing principles, including Kaizen, 5S, line balancing, waste reduction, and flow improvements.

+ Ability to analyze production issues, identify root causes, and drive solutions through to execution.

+ Experience supporting assembly or fabrication environments, with familiarity in sheet metal operations considered a plus.

+ Practical experience in metal fabrication, tooling, and machining processes.

+ Ability to design, develop, and test manufacturing tools, fixtures, and equipment.

+ Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to interpret data and make informed decisions.

+ Effective communication skills for presenting plans, training team members, and collaborating with cross-functional teams.

+ Capability to manage multiple projects simultaneously, including planning, coordination, and follow-through.

Additional

Skills & Qualifications

+ Experience in continuous improvement initiatives within a manufacturing setting.

+ Experience in lean manufacturing projects such as Kaizen events, 5S implementations, and production flow optimization.

+ Familiarity with production flow design and layout planning for buildings, equipment, and assembly lines.

+ Exposure to sheet metal fabrication environments, even if not a primary area of expertise.

+ Experience working with equipment vendors to evaluate, select, and implement manufacturing machinery and tools.

+ Interest in developing and delivering training to production teams on new processes and equipment.

This is a Permanent position based out of Roselle, IL.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $100000.00 - $120000.00/yr.
