Seasonal Laborer - Public Works Department
The Village of Roselle, Illinois (22,897) seeks three (3) temporary Seasonal Laborers to support the Public Works Department with daily maintenance and operational activities. This seasonal position assists full-time staff with a variety of hands‑on tasks related to maintaining Village infrastructure, public rights‑of‑way, facilities, and grounds. The role is primarily outdoor, physical work that supports multiple Public Works divisions during peak operational periods.
Work Schedule: 40 hours per week, Monday through Friday, 7:00a.m. to 3:30p.m. until Memorial Day and then 6:30 AM to 3:00 PM after Memorial Day. Some work on Saturdays and Sundays may also be required for special events. Seasonal work is from May through September.
What You’ll Do:- Assist Public Works divisions with daily and seasonal maintenance activities throughout the Village.
- Support construction and maintenance projects involving public infrastructure, including streets, curbs, gutters, culverts, retaining walls, storm sewers, water mains, and sewer lines.
- Perform general labor tasks such as litter collection, grounds maintenance, street cleaning, and facility organization.
- Set up and break down equipment and materials for community special events.
- Operate non‑CDL vehicles and small equipment; use hand and power tools such as jackhammers and compactors.
- Assist crews with tree trimming and removal activities.
- Load, unload, haul, and deliver materials and supplies to and from job sites.
- Follow established safety procedures and wear required personal protective equipment while working primarily outdoors in varying weather conditions.
- High school diploma, GED, or equivalent.
- Valid driver’s license.
