Job Summary

We are seeking a dynamic and passionate History Teacher to join our team of dedicated educators. This instructor would be responsible for teaching World History, including an AP or Honors section. This teacher will play a vital role in shaping the minds of the next generation and instilling a love of learning and a deep appreciation of world history. This is an exciting opportunity for a teacher who is eager to make a positive impact in the lives of their students and contribute to a thriving academic community.

Our History Teachers bring our academic and cultural visions to life. You will design engaging lessons, use data to guide instruction, and create a classroom where every student learns and thrives while building a joyful, inclusive, and safe community.

You will work closely with your school’s Leadership Team—including your Instructional Area Dean—to continuously strengthen your teaching practice. Through periodic meetings, coaching, and feedback, you will receive the support needed to grow as an educator and leader.

Essential Functions
  • Prepare and execute age-appropriate lesson plans which will include subject matter content, multiple instructional modalities, hands‑on activities and varied assessments.
  • Create an effective and focused learning environment through classroom management and student engagement.
  • Use MS Windows Office Suite and Google Education Suite to enhance student learning.
  • Maintain both a rigorous, college‑preparatory World History class and a well‑differentiated advanced World History class (either Honors or AP; dependent on enrollment).
  • Other duties as assigned.
Desired Qualifications
  • Must have a Bachelor's degree in a major related to this subject; preference given to candidates with an appropriate Master’s degree.
  • Experience teaching at the high school or middle school level.
  • Strong knowledge and understanding of World History, including key events, themes, and historical figures, including non‑Western histories.
  • Ability to design and implement engaging, student‑centered lesson plans.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
  • Commitment to creating a positive, inclusive learning environment for all students.
  • Proficiency with educational technology and multimedia resources.
  • Experience with curriculum development and assessment design.
  • A valid California teaching credential is preferred, but not required.
  • Collaborative work skills, including being open to new ideas and learning.
