Summary of Job Description

The Senior Workplace/Litigation Paralegal provides legal support to the Workplace Legal team, which handles all employment-related advice and counsel and compliance, and the Workplace Legal Litigation team in the areas of litigation, disputes, government investigations/audits, settlements, employment and labor issues, and policies and procedures related to workplace compliance issues. This position performs a variety of paralegal work, including but not limited to: tracking data;

managing professional fees and yearly budget; coordinating summaries of the Workplace Legal team's activities related to all litigation/disputes for reporting to the General Counsel, Senior Team or the Board; drafting and/or reviewing settlement agreements, company policies and other legal documents; following up on potential litigation; and conducting legal research, under the supervision of an attorney. The Senior Workplace/Litigation Paralegal supports other departments on minor legal issues.

Job Responsibilities
  • Provides support in all aspects of team litigation/dispute resolution tasks such as providing status updates; coordinating meetings, witness interviews, scheduling, and information flow; drafting and initiating litigation holds; conducting legal research; coordinating discovery; managing e‑discovery issues; preparing documents for signature; generating reports; gathering personnel files; managing and reviewing subpoena requests; docketing relevant deadlines in litigation or other non‑litigation, compliance, and investigation/audit matters;

    etc.
  • Prepare drafts of routine legal documents, including subpoena responses, standard employment templates, correspondence, policies, settlement agreements, etc. for attorney review.
  • Supports Workplace Legal attorneys with project management, minor legal issues, and maintaining a knowledge base of employment templates, guidance, and historical reference files. Supports other departments with routine legal requests under attorney supervision.
  • Supports Workplace Legal attorneys with pre‑litigation by conducting fact gathering for demand letters and agency charges, collecting and organizing relevant records, and preparing first draft position statements for attorney review.
  • Oversees and negotiates vendor relationship challenges as relevant to the Workplace Legal/ Litigation team functions, such as, litigation holds, billing, e‑discovery platforms, and matter management systems.
  • Responsible for various Workplace Legal systems (litigation, e‑discovery, billing, etc.); provides reporting and metrics on employment and litigation portfolios.
  • Conducts legal research and special projects in support of the Workplace Legal/Litigation team (employment law research, tracking employment claims for insurance purposes, new vendors, etc.).
  • Oversees the billing process with outside counsel, reviewing reports generated by specialized legal billing software, and manages budgeting workflows.
  • Supports the Director, Workplace Legal, in preparing and managing the yearly professional services budget and managing legal reserves.

Your background & experience
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience required
  • Paralegal certification required
  • Minimum five years of relevant experience
  • Successful completion of initial and periodically required trainings.
  • Obtaining a valid Food Handler's Card within 30 days of employment is a requirement of this position.

Pay Range: P3: $90,000 - $126,500 / Annual

* Within the range, individual pay is determined using various factors, including work location and experience.
