School Age Childcare Staff – Mornings Only (Rosemount Elementary) (Project Management)
The YMCA School Age Care program is hiring Program Staff for Rosemount Elementary School (ages 16+) to bring excitement and creativity to before- and after‑school programs for kids in grades K‑5! The salary range for this position is $16.00 per hour. Base pay may vary based on experience and qualifications. The compensation package also includes benefits and earned time off that vary by part‑time or full‑time status.
Job SummaryThe School Age Child Care Program Staff is responsible for planning, leading, and implementing recreational and creative experiences for school‑aged children in a group setting. The incumbent provides high‑quality recreational experiences that reflect the YMCA core values: honesty, respect, responsibility, and caring.
Essential Functions- Assist with writing and implementing weekly lesson plans.
- Organize and lead a variety of activities appropriate for school‑aged children, including arts and crafts, indoor and outdoor games, enrichment activities, etc.
- Ensure the site remains clean and organized.
- Maintain accurate program records, including incident reports, daily rosters, logbook documentation, and attendance records.
- Assist in completing child and program evaluations.
- Maintain CACFP and Minnesota Department of Health licensing for meals and snacks, if applicable.
This position reports to the Site Director, who reports to the Program Director/Sr. Coordinator. The incumbent interacts regularly with children, parents, and staff members from diverse backgrounds.
QualificationsRequired:
- Minimum age of 16.
- Complete required YMCA trainings within 30 days of hire.
- Ability to lead, plan, organize, and implement program activities.
- Strong communication, organization, and human relations skills.
- Willingness to work with diverse populations.
Preferred:
- Previous experience working with school‑aged children.
- Knowledge of CACFP program requirements.
- Must actively participate in youth games/activities, including swimming.
- Ability to travel locally to YMCA branches and other program sites.
- Perform all physical aspects of the position, including moving, bending, reaching, and lifting up to 50 pounds.
- Recognize and react calmly in hazardous or dangerous situations.
- Remain alert in warm to hot environments for prolonged periods, including indoor pool, outdoor activities, and bus rides.
- May be exposed to verbal outbursts, physical actions, or bodily fluids as part of the child‑care environment.
