Dakota County Technical College in Rosemount, MN within the Alternative Learning Program

Hours per Day: 8.0 (7:15 a.m.

- 3:15 p.m.)

Schedule:

Monday through Friday (12 month contract working 225 days per year)

Starting at $64,710 per the Liaisons contract

Position Overview:

Under the direct supervision of the Secondary Principal, the Community Services Outreach Liaison supports the daily operations of community school initiatives by connecting families, students, and staff with partner resources, assisting with outreach events, and maintaining positive stakeholder communication. The Community Services Outreach Liaison must work to create a high-performing community school strategy wherein community members are connected, students and families are supported, and experience belonging with successful outcomes.

Essential Functions:

  • Assist in building a team to implement an asset and needs assessment, in partnership with all constituent groups to identify clear priorities.
  • Serve as a liaison to agencies and programs interested in partnering with the school to help develop new partnerships that are aligned with the school vision.
  • Support leadership to expand learning and enrichment opportunities, health services, parent/family engagement, programming with local universities, and mental health services for students.
  • Support leadership in MTSS wrap-around services for student and family needs (individual and school) that ensure that students are being connected to opportunities and services.
  • Support the development of youth leadership structures in support of continuous school improvement and the development of a co-created vision for the community school.
  • Lead or participate in family engagement events with the school and community partners.
  • Coordinate educational opportunities for families related to academics, basic life skills, or other identified needs.
  • Identify and provide support for students needing equitable academic enrichment (e.g. tutoring and credit recovery).
  • Support and identify partners for coordinated activities before, during, or after school, as well as the summer months.
  • Maintain a lens of college/career readiness for all students.
  • Conduct periodic focus groups or informal conversations and collect other data to understand school climate and community interests and opportunities.
  • Regularly communicate with district or community-based organization leadership to assess alignment.
  • Participate in the school leadership team, site meetings, MTSS and teacher learning committees to examine and make recommendations based on data and curricula to explore potential partners.

Education and Experience:

Bachelor's degree and 1-3 years relevant work experience, or equivalent combination of education and experience within an educational, non-profit, or human services setting. An equivalent combination of education and experience that demonstrates the required efficacy will be considered. Knowledge of K-12 school environments, including tiered systems of support (MTSS/RTI), Professional Learning Communities (PLCs), and district compliance policies preferred.

Capability in establishing and maintaining effective, collaborative relationships with students, families, advisory boards, civic leaders, corporate partners, and the general public. Lived or professional experience successfully navigating complex socioeconomic and systemic structures, with the ability to handle basic conflict resolution or escalate complex situations as needed. Strong written and oral communication skills, including the ability to relay information accurately between school staff and external partners, and communicate clearly and tactfully across diverse cultural and socioeconomic backgrounds.

General proficiency in event scheduling, organizing and planning large-scale student, family, and community outreach events. Strong computer literacy, including proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, Google Workspace/Microsoft Office use, and specialized school information.

Knowledge of applicable district policies, practices and procedures, school outreach and community partnerships best practices; ability to build positive relationships with students and families; general skill operating standard office equipment and applicable hardware and software; general skill in organizing multiple events for students; general skill in developing and implementing framework for student success; ability to make arithmetic computations using whole numbers, fractions and decimals;

ability to compute rates, ratios and percentages ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with associates, advisory boards, businesses, industrial personnel and leaders, member district staff, non-member district staff, and the general public.
