The Wells EHS & DOT Compliance Director oversees organizational compliance with local, state, and federal safety, environmental, and DOT regulations, while staying abreast of current regulations that impact the organization. The Director role is responsible for all divisional aspects of employee health, safety, environmental, and DOT compliance, including developing and implementing safety policies, conducting safety audits, investigating accidents, and training employees at all levels.

Salary range $90,000-$130,000. Based on location and experience.

WHAT YOU’LL DO
  • Develop, implement, and maintain safety processes and programs to prevent injuries and promote a strong safety culture, holding all employees accountable for safe behaviors.
  • Oversee and administer Safety and Health programs, including recordkeeping (OSHA logs, training records), daily/monthly reporting, and the Safety and Recognition program.
  • Conduct compliance audits, risk assessments, job safety analyses, site visits, and incident/near‑miss investigations; implement corrective actions and update procedures as needed.
  • Collaborate with leaders and employees to enhance safety practices; coach, mentor, and support management and staff; lead safety committee meetings and coordinate core safety programs (Near Misses, Toolbox Talks, Inspections).
  • Schedule, track, and provide health and safety training; ensure ongoing education and regulatory compliance for all employees.
  • Manage workers’ compensation cases, return‑to‑work processes, and report accident trends to management.
  • Engage with OSHA inspectors and other regulatory agencies for compliance, audits, and policy updates; integrate safety procedures into processes and audit for compliance.
  • Evaluate and maintain PPE, safety equipment, and oversee annual equipment inspections and required safety testing.
  • Administer and update the SDS Online program and address loss control concerns with TPA in a timely manner.
  • Perform divisional environmental duties, including maintaining permits (storm water, air, waste generation), spill prevention/control, Tier II Reporting, and emergency response coordination.
  • Oversee divisional DOT compliance: vehicle inspection certifications, driver qualification files, random drug testing, MVR reports, and ensure required training and recordkeeping.
  • Demonstrate professionalism, integrity, trust, and empathy in all interactions.
