Seasonal Mower

This position will remain open until filled, with the first review of applications on March 2nd.

The Seasonal Mower is responsible for providing routine to semi-skilled seasonal work in the Parks Department including mowing, mower maintenance, thatching, and bagging of grass.

This seasonal position will work one to five days per week (i.e., 8-40 hours) over a 67-day season, approximately April through October. The City is willing to consider flexible scheduling options within a Monday through Friday timeframe.

• Operate large and small rotary riding mowers to maintain Rosemount's parks and facilities.
• Perform light maintenance and cleaning on mowers.
• Work with little or no direct supervision.
• Perform other various duties as assigned.

• Must be at least 18 years of age.
• High school diploma or GED equivalent.
• Valid Driver's License
• Ability to operate large and small rotary riding mowers.
• Ability to perform manual tasks for extended periods of time.
• Ability to work outdoors for entire shift.
• Ability to work 8-40 hours a week from April through October. Specific dates to be determined.

• Formal education or practical experience in mowing.
• Formal education or practical experience in maintenance of mowers.

• Some knowledge of the tools, methods, and materials used in general maintenance.
• Ability to understand and follow oral and written instructions.
• Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with other employees and the public.
• Ability to operate a variety of motorized vehicles and equipment in a safe manner.
• Physical strength sufficient to do mowing tasks under varying weather conditions.

The employee is occasionally required to climb or balance, stoop, kneel or crouch.

The employee can occasionally be required to stand for extended periods of time. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus.

The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job, the employee frequently works in outside weather conditions. The employee occasionally works near moving mechanical parts; in high, precarious places; and is occasionally exposed to wet and/or humid conditions, fumes or airborne particles, caustic chemicals, extreme cold, extreme heat and vibration.

The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
