This role offers an excellent opportunity for entry-level mechanics to grow into seasoned diesel mechanics through hands-on training and mentorship. You will support off-shift operations as part of a team that values a strong work ethic, a positive attitude, and a willingness to learn. The position focuses on maintaining and repairing diesel engines and heavy equipment in a professional shop environment.
Responsibilities
- Perform basic mechanical tasks and gradually take on more complex diesel mechanic responsibilities as training progresses.
- Assist with troubleshooting mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic issues on diesel engines and heavy equipment.
- Carry out preventive maintenance services, including lubrication, greasing, and routine inspections.
- Support repair work on brakes, engines, tires, and other key vehicle and equipment components.
- Help conduct diagnostic testing to identify faults in diesel engines and related systems.
- Participate in fabrication and minor repairs as needed to maintain equipment reliability.
- Follow established safety procedures and contribute to a safe, organized shop environment.
- Work collaboratively with experienced mechanics and supervisors to learn best practices and improve technical skills.
- Maintain tools, equipment, and work areas in clean and functional condition.
- Document work performed in a clear and accurate manner as required by shop processes.
Essential Skills
- Demonstrated mechanical aptitude and interest in developing as a diesel mechanic.
- Ability to perform basic mechanical tasks and follow detailed instructions.
- Willingness to work off shifts and support shop operations during non-standard hours.
- Strong troubleshooting mindset with the ability to learn diagnostic techniques.
- Basic understanding or willingness to learn diesel engine systems and components.
- Commitment to working safely and adhering to all safety procedures and guidelines.
- Reliable work ethic with a positive attitude and readiness to take on physical tasks.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- Exposure to or interest in diesel engines and heavy equipment maintenance.
- Willingness to learn mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic repair techniques.
- Interest in gaining skills in preventive maintenance, including lubrication and greasing.
- Desire to develop experience with brake systems, tires, and engine repair.
- Openness to learning fabrication and basic welding tasks as needed.
- Ability to learn diagnostic testing methods for diesel engines and related systems.
- Comfort working with tools and equipment in a shop environment.

This is a permanent position based out of Rosemount, MN.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $49920.00 - $93600.00/yr. PTO, health, dental, vision, 401k, family owned company.
