Position
Description:
The Petroleum Driver transports gasoline, diesel, ethanol, and other petroleum products to customer locations while maintaining strict compliance with safety, environmental, and DOT regulations. The responsibilities listed below, together with any division-specific responsibilities, are considered essential job functions of the position.
Essential Job Functions:
- Safely operate tractor-trailer equipment in accordance with DOT regulations and company policies
- Perform pre-trip and post-trip inspections and report defects immediately
- Load and unload petroleum products using hoses and pumping systems
- Connect and disconnect hoses and fittings safely
- Drop and hook trailers, including raising and lowering dolly legs
- Verify load details and tank capacity prior to unloading
- Maintain accurate delivery documentation and operational records
- Communicate effectively with dispatch, customers, and facility personnel
- Follow all company safety policies, DOT regulations, and customer requirements
- Maintain professional appearance and represent the company positively
- Report all safety concerns, incidents, and equipment issues immediately
Division-Specific Responsibilities:
- Operate PTO pumping systems
- Use vapor recovery systems during loading and unloading
- Verify ullage levels to prevent overfills
- Deliver to fuel stations, terminals, and airports
Required
Skills & Experience:
- Valid Class A CDL
- Tanker and Hazmat endorsements
- Current DOT medical certification
- Knowledge of petroleum handling procedures
- Strong attention to detail and safety
Desired
Qualifications:
- Experience transporting petroleum products
- Experience delivering to fuel terminals or stations
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs
- Handle fuel hoses up to 50 lbs
- Climb tanker ladders
- Frequent bending, reaching, twisting, and climbing
- Prolonged sitting while driving
- Must wear company-issued uniform or attire that adheres to company dress code and safety policies at all times.
- Required to maintain a clean, professional appearance appropriate for customer and terminal environments.
