POSITION TITLE:

Administrative Assistant, Liaison At-Risk/Attendance

JOB DESCRIPTION:

Primary

Purpose:

To maintain accurate records and to assist in the implementation of the District's attendance policy and encouragement of the continuation of all students' education.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Major Responsibilities and Duties

* Maintain accurate records and collect and file data regarding attendance, at-risk referrals, student demographic data, student attendance, home visits, phone contacts, affidavits filed by individual schools, court hearings and scheduled assessments.

* Prepare daily, weekly, monthly, semester and yearly reports and provide as paperwork needed which facilitates administrative decisions and requirements.

* Assist with phone calls, home visits and other contact with parents of students who have attendance problems and characteristics of dropping out.

* Provide attendance and dropout prevention services to all schools in the District when requested by the supervisor or designee.

* Serve as a positive role model by engaging in activities that promote communication and understanding between school and community.

* Attendance at work is an essential function.

* Other duties as assigned by the supervisor or designee.

EXPERIENCE:

QUALIFICATIONS:

Minimum

Education/Certification:

* High school diploma or G.E.D.

* 15 credited college hours OR two years of work-related experience with students

* Valid Texas driver's license

* Eligible for coverage under the District's vehicle insurance program

Special Knowledge/

Skills:

* Working knowledge of basic office procedures and common office equipment and machines

* High degree of proficiency in typing and data entry

* Ability to obtain, organize data and put into usable form

* Ability to use good judgment in decision making and problem solving

* Ability to greet the public both in person and by telephone to assist in the visitation with parents, students and school personnel

Computer, phone, copier, printer, and other common office equipment.

Working Conditions

Mental/Physical Demands/Environmental Factors:

Moderate lifting and carrying (15-44 pounds), reaching above shoulders, use of fingers, walking, climbing (stairs), operation of motor vehicle, specific visual requirements (using computer, follow and record schedules, plans, charts and collection of data), specific hearing requirements (follow verbal directions, oral communication and phone conversations), travel (daily in-district travel).
