JOB DESCRIPTION:
Primary
Purpose:
To collect, evaluate, maintain and disseminate records pertaining to present and former students attending high school.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Major Responsibilities and Duties
School Management
* Register and withdraw students, verifying residence and eligibility.
* Send student scholastic records upon request.
* Fulfilling social security, disability, child support, probation, and educational verification requests.
* Evaluate transcripts for students transferring from other schools, states, and countries and build transcripts from records received.
* Assist counselors in placing new students based on interpreted credits from other schools, state, or countries.
* Maintain grade point information for all students and calculate class rank.
* Assist counselors with maintaining current schedules and grades.
* Certify students for graduation and determine that they have met qualifications for their declared graduation plan or endorsement.
* Verify and update student information.
School/Organizational Improvement
* Collaborate with counselors and special programs directors in organizing pre-registration, interpreting data for scheduling, and auditing credits.
* Assist in the coordination of graduation and commencement exercises at the principal's discretion.
* Attendance at work is an essential function.
* Perform all other duties as assigned by supervisor or designee.
Supervisory Responsibilities:
* Supervise assigned clerical staff
EXPERIENCE:
Minimum Experience:
* Three years of teaching experience
* Counseling experience preferred
QUALIFICATIONS:
Minimum
Education/Certification:
* Master's degree
* Valid Texas driver's license
* Eligible for coverage under the District's vehicle insurance program
Special Knowledge/
Skills:
* Strong organizational, communication and interpersonal skills
* Ability to maintain accurate and auditable records
* Knowledge of secondary curriculum and graduation requirements

Ability to concentrate (detailed work), communicate effectively (verbal and written); interpret policy, procedures, and data; reason, understand verbal instructions, analyze, differentiate, memorize, read, coordinate district functions, compile, compute, instruct, and maintain emotional control under stress. Moderate lifting and carrying (15-44 pounds), use of fingers (using technical machinery), walking (intermittent), operation of motor vehicle, specific visual requirements (reading educational material), depth perception (adequate for driving and safety), specific hearing requirements (phone conversations and responding to students).
Outside and inside, works around machinery with moving parts, computers, typewriters, and other technical equipment, works around moving objects or vehicles (intermittent), protracted or irregular hours of work (when required).
