Special Education, Social Skills Camp Teacher
JOB DESCRIPTION:
PRIMARY
PURPOSE:
To provide a comprehensive, diversified program to address the social skills deficits for students with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD).
RESPONSIBILITIES:
School Climate
* Teach and reinforce social skills and appropriate behavior through positive supports.
* Assist students to generalize skills to the community setting through field trips.
Program Management
* Plan, implement and evaluate a comprehensive program of social skills training.
* Organize personnel, physical resources and activities to address the needs of students with ASD.
Student Management
* Monitor all students as they plan and manage their own personal-social development.
Professional Growth and Development
* Adhere to ethical, legal and professional standards.
* Perform other duties as assigned by the immediate supervisor and/or Superintendent.
EXPERIENCE:
Minimum Experience:
* Three years teaching experience preferred
QUALIFICATIONS:
Minimum
Education/Certification:
* Master's degree preferred
* Valid certification as a special education guidance counselor or meet State eligibility requirements for emergency permit OR valid special education teaching certification
* Valid Texas driver's license
Special Knowledge/
Skills:
* Ability to relate to and effectively communicate with people of all ages and cultural backgrounds

PHYSICAL DEMANDS/ENVIRONMENTAL FACTORS:
Heavy lifting (45 pounds and over), Heavy carrying (45 pounds and over), Sitting, Standing, Kneeling, Hearing, Speech, Visual acuity, Inside, Outside, Noise.
