Lead Crisis Intervention Specialist Role Responsibilities
The Lead Crisis Intervention Specialist provides direct services to persons with IDD experiencing a crisis or at risk of requiring crisis services. The Lead Crisis Intervention Specialist oversees all crisis intervention services activities defined by the Center’s IDD Performance Contracts with HHSC. This position includes rotation of after-hours, on-call crisis coverage, on-call crisis resolution by phone or audio-visual services. The Lead Crisis Intervention Specialist works under the supervision of IDD Intervention Services Team Leader.
Lead Crisis Intervention Specialist is responsible for the following:
- Facilitating crisis resolution for persons experiencing a crisis or at risk of requiring crisis services.
- Collaborating with appropriate LIDDA Staff, MCOT, Transition Support Team members and community partners to identify persons with IDD in the LIDDA’s local service who are at risk of requiring crisis services.
- Providing education to MCOT, law enforcement, stakeholders, and other community partners about engaging persons with IDD and crisis intervention services.
- Assisting the IDD Intervention Services Team Leader with oversight to the IDD-CIS team operations.
- Compliance with applicable local, state, and federal rules and regulations
- Adherence to and promotion of the Texana Compliance Policy
- Travel within a 6-county region
- Work hours:
M-F, 8-5 with flexibility based on client need
- $24.82 to $27.57/hour based on years of experience
- Bachelor’s degree in health and human services field
- Texas Driver License (in good standing)
- 2 years of experience working with individuals with IDD who have mental health and behavior support needs or linking people with IDD to mental health supports
- 1 year of experience working directly with individuals with IDD or other developmental disabilities
- Experience in crisis prevention and management
- Spanish speaking
Physical Requirements
- Must be able to perform SAMA and CPR. Training is provided to employees once hired
- Must be able to perform moderate to heavy lifting (15#- 45#), kneeling, pushing, stooping, climbing stairs, walking, standing, and sitting
- Must have ability to hear (with aid), see, write, operate office equipment, operate a motor vehicle and depth perception.
- Qualified individuals must be able to perform these functions with or without reasonable accommodation.
