Job Overview
Senior Applications Administrator – The role focuses on maintaining and supporting the Workday ERP/SIS platform and other enterprise applications. Responsibilities include managing application software, monitoring and troubleshooting issues, planning capacity, and ensuring security compliance. The position requires strong communication, leadership, and expertise in Workday configuration, security governance, and technical administration.
Essential Functions- Maintain application functionality: application security model, system and security patches, upgrades, backups, disaster recovery, scripting, and test plans.
- Security & Compliance: audit controls, investigate security breaches, implement changes, and keep accurate security records.
- Application Change Control: plan, coordinate, configure, test, and communicate changes, upgrades, and maintenance schedules.
- Support Process Workflow: log and track support tickets, prioritize, diagnose, resolve incidents, and implement preventive measures.
- Monitoring & Analysis: monitor patterns and issues, update product and processes.
- Documentation & Knowledge Management: maintain system documentation, knowledgebase articles, root cause analysis, change logs, and user management.
- Customer Support: respond to tickets within defined SLAs.
- Feedback and Training: distribute client feedback and deliver training and process improvement.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration:
represent support in cross‑functional meetings, partner with product owners, coordinate contract renewals, quotes, and invoices. - Strategic Contribution: develop strategies, policies, standards, procedures, and tools.
- Incident Resolution & Escalation: investigate and resolve application incidents, own escalation, document KB articles, change logs, and RCAs.
- Additional Responsibilities: may require availability outside normal hours, understand business function and workflows, mentor junior staff, and other duties as assigned.
- Workday SME
Collaboration:
coordinate with functional SMEs to ensure proper technical understanding and align solutions. - Security & Access Governance: manage Workday access, review requests, perform audits, and design security models.
- Workday Configuration: configure business processes, notifications, condition rules, and calculated fields.
- Tenant & Release Management: collaborate on bi‑annual tenant release cycles, assess feature impact, prioritize changes, test sandbox, plan regressions, coordinate UAT, and execute go‑live.
- Business Process Architecture: design enterprise‑wide BP frameworks, balance automation, compliance, and usability.
- Integrations & Architecture: coordinate with App Engineering teams to design integration flows and implement prebuilt APIs.
- Reporting: develop diagnostic reports using Workday Report Writer, perform system health checks and internal audits.
- Education – Associate degree in IT required; bachelor’s degree preferred.
- Experience – 4–6 years related experience; extensive experience as an Application Administrator or similar leadership role; demonstrated leadership experience.
- Core Skills – Effective verbal and written communication, excellent time management, multi‑tasking, organizational awareness, problem‑solving/analytical skills, attention to detail, and project management.
- Workday Ecosystem – required – 1–2 years advanced experience in Workday administration, proven track record in multi‑tenant environment, advanced proficiency with Workday Security, Business Process framework, and Report Writer; expertise in security & access governance, business process architecture, tenant & release management, EIB, API, advanced reporting & analytics, coordination with functional SMEs, and compliance requirements.
- Certifications (a plus) – Workday Pro Platform Administrator, Workday Pro Security, Workday Pro Adaptive Planning, CompTIA, A+, Network+, Server+, ITIL Foundations.
- Technical Knowledge – Process automation, SQL programming, scripting languages (Power Shell, Python, Power Automate, Power Apps), Entra/Active Directory, Intune, Group Policies.
