Description Position SummaryThe Maintenance Operations Manager is responsible for ensuring the safe, efficient, and reliable operation of all production equipment, plant facilities, and supporting infrastructure in a cabinet manufacturing environment. This role leads preventive and predictive maintenance programs, manages maintenance personnel and vendors, and drives continuous improvement to minimize downtime and support production performance.
Key ResponsibilitiesEquipment Maintenance
- Develop and implement preventive and predictive maintenance schedules for woodworking machinery, CNC routers, finishing equipment, dust collection systems, and other plant assets
- Troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, and pneumatic systems to minimize unplanned downtime and maintain production flow
- Supervise maintenance technicians and custodial staff
- Provide training and enforce safety protocols
- Oversee building systems (HVAC, lighting, plumbing), utilities, and grounds to ensure compliance and operational efficiency
- Manage relationships with service providers for specialized repairs, inspections, and facility upgrades
- Ensure adherence to OSHA, NFPA, and environmental regulations
- Maintain documentation for audits and inspections
- Prepare and manage maintenance budgets
- Maintain inventory of spare parts, tools, and consumables
- Implement lean maintenance practices and reliability-centered maintenance strategies to optimize equipment performance
- Develop contingency plans for equipment failures, power outages, and facility-related emergencies
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical/Electrical Engineering, Industrial Maintenance, or related field (or equivalent experience)
- 5+ years of experience in maintenance management within a manufacturing environment, preferably woodworking or cabinet production
- Strong knowledge of CNC machinery, woodworking equipment, dust collection systems, hydraulics, pneumatics, and finishing processes
- Proficiency in CMMS (Computerized Maintenance Management Systems)
- Excellent leadership, problem-solving, and communication skills
- Strong safety background
- Experience with TPM (Total Productive Maintenance) and Lean Manufacturing principles
- Knowledge of energy efficiency and sustainability practices
- Ability to manage multiple projects and prioritize under pressure
