JOB DESCRIPTION:

PRIMARY

PURPOSE:

Under general supervision, ensures the safety of patrons of an aquatic facility by preventing and responding to emergencies.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

MAJOR

RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:

* Maintain constant surveillance of patrons in the facility; act immediately and appropriately to secure safety of patrons in the event of emergency.

* Provide emergency care and treatment as required until the arrival of emergency medical services.

* Maintain professional appearance and attitude at all times.

* Maintain a high standard of customer service.

* Perform various maintenance duties as directed to maintain a clean and safe facility.

* Prepare and maintain appropriate activity reports.

* Perform other duties as assigned.

EXPERIENCE:

QUALIFICATIONS:

Minimum Education /Certification/

Minimum Experience:

* Current Lifeguard certification

* First Aid Certification

* Annual CPR Certification

Special Knowledge/

Skills:

* Ability to react calmly and effectively in emergency situations

* Skill in the application of lifeguarding surveillance and rescue techniques

* Knowledge of CPR and emergency medical procedures

* Ability to follow verbal and written instructions

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
Heavy lifting (45 pounds and over), Heavy carrying (45 pounds and over), Pushing, Pulling, Reaching above shoulders, Use of fingers, Walking, Standing, Kneeling, Repeated bending, Depth perception, Ability to distinguish basic colors, Specific visual requirements (ability to monitor the safety of individuals in the facility), Specific hearing requirements (ability to monitor the safety of individuals in the facility). ENVIRONMENTAL FACTORS:
