Project Manager – K-12 / DSA Construction
Location: San Diego, CA
Salary Range: $115,000 – $165,000 base (DOE)
Position OverviewOur client is seeking an experienced Project Manager with a strong background in K-12 and Division of the State Architect (DSA) construction projects to join our growing team in San Diego. This role is responsible for overseeing all phases of construction projects, ensuring compliance with DSA requirements, and delivering projects on time, within budget, and to the highest quality standards.
Key Responsibilities- Manage all aspects of K-12 construction projects from preconstruction through closeout
- Serve as the primary point of contact for clients, architects, consultants, and subcontractors
- Ensure full compliance with DSA regulations, approvals, and documentation processes
- Develop and maintain project schedules, budgets, and cost controls
- Lead project meetings, including OAC (Owner-Architect-Contractor) meetings
- Review and coordinate plans, specifications, and submittals
- Identify and mitigate project risks and resolve field issues proactively
- Oversee RFI, submittal, change order, and closeout processes
- Collaborate with field teams to ensure safety, quality, and schedule adherence
- Maintain strong relationships with school districts and public agency stakeholders
- Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Architecture, or related field (or equivalent experience)
- 3-4+ years minimum experience managing construction projects, with a focus on K-12 and DSA-regulated work
- In-depth knowledge of DSA processes, inspections, and documentation requirements
- Proven experience managing multiple projects simultaneously
- Strong understanding of construction methods, scheduling, and cost control
- Proficiency in project management software (e.g., Procore, Primavera P6, MS Project)
- Excellent communication, leadership, and organizational skills
- Experience working with California school districts
- Familiarity with public works contracting requirements
- OSHA certification or strong commitment to jobsite safety
- Competitive base salary ($115,000 – $165,000 DOE)
