John Adams Academy is a tuition-free TK–12 American Classical Leadership Education charter school with campuses in Roseville, Lincoln, and El Dorado Hills, California. Our scholars are immersed in the classics, the great ideas of the Western tradition, and the habits of servant-leadership. The Academy’s Latin program begins in middle school and continues through high school. We seek faculty who inspire young scholars through rigorous classical study and who model the Core Values of John Adams Academy.
Job DescriptionJohn Adams Academy seeks a dynamic and knowledgeable Latin teacher to join its secondary faculty. The ideal candidate will demonstrate fluency in classical Latin, familiarity with Roman literature and culture, and an ability to mentor students through the stages of Latin acquisition and translation. The program is built upon the goal of not only reading classics in the original Latin but also being able to discuss the ideas and wisdom found within them.
There are multiple full-time positions open at both our Roseville and Lincoln campuses.
- Teach multiple sections of middle or high school Latin
- Introduce scholars to classical texts, grammar, vocabulary, and Roman culture
- Develop and deliver engaging, rigorous lessons aligned with a classical scope and sequence
- Model and mentor servant-leadership in accordance with the Academy’s Core Values
- Support extracurriculars such as the Junior Classical League or similar enrichment
- Collaborate with colleagues and contribute to the life of the school through duties and events
- Bachelor’s degree in Latin, Classics, or related field required;
Master’s preferred - California teaching credential (or willingness to obtain one)
- Demonstrated ability to read and teach classical Latin
- Experience with CI methods and Lingua Latina per se Illustrata preferred
- Strong communication skills and commitment to classical education
- Alignment with the mission, vision, and values of John Adams Academy
