Utility Locator

What You'll Do

The Utility Locator will conduct utility investigations, collect and interpret field data, and develop accurate utility mapping to support engineering, design, and construction teams.

• Utility Detection & Investigation: Perform field utility locating using ground penetrating radar (GPR), electromagnetic locating equipment, conductive rodders, and other detection methods.
• CCTV Inspection & Data Collection: Conduct CCTV inspections of sanitary sewer and storm drain systems to support utility investigations and condition assessments.
• Records Research & Documentation: Prepare utility request letters, obtain utility records from service providers, and organize supporting documentation.
• Utility Mapping & Drawing Development: Interpret utility records, plot field-located utilities, adjust utility locations based on field evidence, and prepare composite utility maps and drawings.
• Project Coordination & Communication: Coordinate with engineering teams, survey crews, utility providers, and project stakeholders to support project planning and delivery.

• 3+ years of utility locating or subsurface utility engineering (SUE) experience.
• Experience using utility locating technologies such as GPR, electromagnetic locators, conductive rodders, and related equipment.
• Ability to identify, verify, and document underground utilities using multiple locating methods.
• Strong communication, organizational, and teamwork skills.

• Pay Range: $30.00 - $45.00 per hour (commensurate with experience).
