Design Engineer

Responsibilities

• Creatively design field repairs for truss components in accordance with acceptable engineering principles and judgment.
• Design truss components based on specified parameters from customers using engineering and building codes.
• Discuss design modifications and review design methodologies with customers.
• Assist, train, and counsel customers in troubleshooting issues and solving design problems.
• Review results of truss design software for accuracy and collaborate with engineers and software development team.
• Collaborate with engineers, architects and building officials on customer component design projects.

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering required.
• Equivalent combination of experience and education that clearly indicates the ability to perform the essential functions; may substitute on a year for year basis.
• Up to 1 year of related experience required.
• Ability to perform technical skills including algebra, trigonometry, geometry, basic calculus, physics, statistics, and strength of materials, structural analysis.
• Ability to read and understand prints and schematics.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications.
• Engineer‑in‑Training (EIT) – any state board preferred.

• Perform work accurately and thoroughly.
• Attend to, convey, and understand the comments and questions of others.
• Have solid engineering/technical skills with attention to detail.
• Maintain an outstanding safety record and follow all safety policies and procedures.
• Demonstrate accuracy, thoroughness, and monitor own work to ensure quality.

• Meet productivity standards without diminishing quality of work.
• Work to keep waste down and complete work in a timely manner.

5% domestic travel as necessary.

This role is performed in an office environment where a computer, telephone and other office equipment are used as needed to perform the duties of the role.
