With offices throughout California and the Portland area, BKF has served transportation, water resources, land development, government, and federal clients for over 110 years.

At BKF, you'll find a unique opportunity to grow your career with intention. Our culture values professional autonomy, innovation, and meaningful collaboration across offices. We are proud to be recognized with the Great Place to Work certification for the second year in a row.

We are seeking a motivated and experienced Roadway Engineer with 5 to 10 years of roadway design experience to join our growing transportation team. This role is ideal for a self-driven professional who is eager to expand their technical expertise, take on increasingly complex challenges, and grow within a collaborative engineering environment. The ideal candidate will have demonstrated experience delivering transportation projects for local public agencies and jurisdictions, with a strong understanding of roadway design standards, multidisciplinary coordination, and project delivery from planning through final design.

Responsibilities

  • Lead or support the planning, design, and delivery of a wide range of roadway and transportation infrastructure projects
  • Prepare engineering plans, specifications, estimates, and technical reports for public agency projects
  • Develop roadway geometric designs, grading plans, striping plans, signing plans, and traffic control concepts
  • Coordinate with internal disciplines including traffic engineering, drainage, utility coordination, environmental, right-of-way, and construction support teams
  • Participate in client meetings, technical workshops, and agency coordination efforts
  • Assist with project schedule management, budget tracking, and quality control reviews
  • Support proposal development, technical approaches, and scope preparation for transportation pursuits
  • Mentor junior staff and contribute to a collaborative team environment
  • Stay current with evolving design standards, agency requirements, and industry best practices
