What You Will Do
GFT is seeking Civil/Structural Engineers to support the design and construction of critical infrastructure projects in Northern California. This is a Hybrid position and would require consistent attendance at our Roseville, CA office.
Joining the dams and hydraulics team at GFT means contributing to innovative solutions for sustainable water management and infrastructure. Our team excels in dams and levees, water conveyance (canals, flumes, penstocks), spillways, ground anchors, and rehabilitation of aging infrastructure. WhatYou'll Be Challenged To Do
This role offers an exciting opportunity to collaborate directly with a multi-disciplinary team including civil/structural engineers, geotechnical engineers and geologists to implement innovative design solutions through all phases of a project's lifecycle. Our engineering team excels in tackling the most challenging civil/structural assignments to provide innovative solutions for dams, foundations, underground construction, earth structures, and water conveyance structures. Our engineers are experts in dam stability and seepage, earth retention structures, and structure foundations.
Responsibilities- Perform routine and complex design, analysis, and engineering calculations, including concrete and steel structures, foundation support, and earth retaining structures.
- Assist with the preparation of construction drawings, technical reports/memoranda, specifications, quantities of materials, and cost estimates to meet scope, schedule, cost, and regulatory requirements.
- Review shop drawings to determine conformance with the contract documents.
- Attend client meetings and participate under direct supervision of project manager.
- Communicate with clients and construction personnel to implement appropriate designs and project solutions under supervision of project manager.
- Conduct field work including inspections of existing infrastructure and construction observation, comprising up to 30% of the position. This includes travel to client locations or project sites and may include overnight stays.
- Serve as a project manager for small- to medium-sized projects or a task manager on larger, more complex projects.
- Work effectively in multi-disciplinary teams.
- Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering, with structural emphasis preferred.
- Engineer in Training (E.I.T.) certification required with the ability to obtain Professional Engineer (P.E.) license within one year.
- Four or more years of direct work experience in civil engineering.
- Experience in advanced design software applications preferred (Tedds, SAP, AutoCAD, Civil3D, etc.).
- Willingness to tackle unique engineering challenges related to aging infrastructure, with an understanding of civil/structural engineering principles applied to water conveyance and earth retention structures.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Proficiency in standard office software, including Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
- Experience with project proposals and presentations preferred.
- Some experience with management of small work groups and project tasks or project management of small projects.
- Master's Degree in Civil Engineering.

Salary range: $100,000 - $140,000. Salary is dependent upon experience and geographic location.
