Job DescriptionThe Licensed Clinical Therapist helps individuals in the prevention of and the treatment of clients with substance use disorders and mental health disorders. They plan, manage, and provide services to clients. The position operates from a trauma‑informed, client‑centered framework
, recognizing the prevalence and impact of trauma on substance use, mental health, and recovery. The employee will promote emotional safety, empowerment, collaboration, and cultural humility in all client interactions.
Further, they utilize case history to develop individual, group and family therapy techniques, administration, community organization, consultation, and case management planning. They will also perform duties while adhering to the organization’s values and principles.
Education and Training Requirements- Must be registered with the Board of Behavioral Sciences as a Licensed Clinical Therapist.
- Master’s Degree from an accredited institution is required.
- Specialized training in trauma-focused modalities such as EMDR, ART, Trauma-focused CBT, Somatic Experiencing (SE), Brain Spotting, MBSR, CRM, or similar evidence-based approaches.
- Current CPR and First Aid certification.
- Current TB test results.
- Must pass a comprehensive background check.
- Valid driver’s license and SSN.
- Provide services using trauma‑informed principles
, including safety, trustworthiness, choice, collaboration, and empowerment. - Recognize and respond appropriately to trauma‑related behaviors and triggers within the scope of practice.
- Support clients in developing emotional regulation and coping strategies that reduce relapse risk.
- Avoid re‑traumatization by maintaining respectful boundaries, predictable structure, and transparent communication.
- Collaborate with licensed mental health professionals for trauma‑specific referrals when indicated.
- Document trauma‑related observations using non‑diagnostic, strengths‑based language consistent with agency policy.
- Assist in assessing and preparing preliminary treatment plans for assigned clients.
- Maintain accurate and timely records and ensure client records for assigned caseload are accurate, complete, and meet licensing and regulatory standards.
- Assist discharge planning upon admission for assigned clients and update discharge plan weekly.
- Monitor and chart client progress and implement modifications to the client’s program as needed.
- Facilitate multi-disciplinary treatment planning and updates for assigned clients (ensure inclusion of all treatment modalities/disciplines.
- Communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.
- Participate in group counseling, education, and meetings per program schedule.
- Facilitate and assist couples/family sessions as specified in individual clients’ treatment plans.
- Interfaces with assigned managed care company, or referral source, for treatment planning and concurrent review.
- Facilitate community referrals for assigned clients.
- Coordinate all treatment services needed for assigned client caseload.
- Communicate with staff via client’s record to maximize utilization of milieu in supporting the client’s treatment plan.
- Participate in in-service training, individual/group supervision meetings, and staff meetings.
- Provide trauma-focused therapy using evidence-based modalities such as EMDR, ART, Trauma-focused CBT, Somatic Experiencing (SE), Brain Spotting, MBSR, CRM, and other relevant approaches.
- Performs related duties as assigned.
