Job Summary

Location:

Onsite in Roseville, CA (Hybrid Flexibility)

Reports To:

VP of Product Development

Type:
Full‑Time

Responsibilities:
  • Lead & Empower
    :
Invest in your team’s growth through intentional coaching, skills‑focused mentorship, and structured collaboration like peer programming or guided learning plans. You take ownership of knowledge gaps and close them through action, not passive observation. Create a culture of accountability on the development team where time is respected, progress is visible, and support is strategic.
  • Proactive Visibility and Planning
    :
Take ownership of delivery timelines by tracking progress, identifying blockers, and producing actionable status reports without needing to be asked. You recognize when goals are at risk and provide clear options—whether it’s reallocation, reprioritization, or scope adjustment to keep projects on track and leadership informed.
  • Balance Experimentation with Clarity
    :
Encourage innovation and learning without compromising platform stability. Model thoughtful experimentation, grounded in documentation, version control, and awareness of existing systems to avoid regressions and knowledge gaps.
  • Drive Execution
    :
Deliver new features and enhancements on schedule by aligning team capacity with strategic priorities and stakeholder needs.
  • Estimate with Confidence
    :
Lead project sizing efforts, especially for client‑driven initiatives or RFP‑style work, balancing accuracy and flexibility.
  • Raise the Bar
    :
Drive architectural alignment and technical excellence by documenting and enforcing coding standards. Lead by example to enforce test coverage, code review norms, CI/CD pipelines, and documentation practices, treating consistency and clarity as team‑wide multipliers, not afterthoughts.
  • Build Relationships
    :
Serve as a bridge between engineering, product, and client‑facing teams, bringing transparency and collaboration to every project.
  • Leadership Maturity
    :
Demonstrates calm, emotionally mature leadership. Handles pressure, disagreement, and feedback without defensiveness or escalation. Maintains strong professional boundaries and models appropriate conduct with teams, peers, and leadership.
  • Team Development
    :
Has a proven track record of developing engineers into leaders through structured coaching, consistent expectations, and ego‑free mentorship.
  • Delivery Culture
    :
Thrives in stable, predictable delivery environments. Prevents unnecessary urgency by planning effectively and focusing on prevention over heroics.
  • Executive Alignment
    :
Collaborates effectively with executive leadership. Accepts direction, aligns to high‑level strategy, and translates it into clear engineering plans without resistance or undermining.
  • Communication
    :
Communicates clearly, calmly, and directly, even under pressure. Separates fact from emotion and maintains clarity in high‑stakes or ambiguous situations.
  • Conflict Management
    :
Resolves conflict privately and professionally. Protects team cohesion by addressing issues constructively and without emotional leakage.
Requirements:
  • 3+ years of people management experience, leading 4+ engineers on cross‑functional teams.
  • 3+ years of customer‑facing experience leading technical discussions externally
  • Familiarity with Azure Dev Ops Boards, Pull Requests, and Pipeline Processes a plus
  • Familiarity with managing Sonar Qube a plus
  • Familiarity with certification and security frameworks (ex: PCI, ISO 27001, NIST, SOC2, etc)
  • Proven success shipping and maintaining web and mobile applications at scale.
  • Experience working with cloud‑first platforms.
  • Experience leading estimation and sizing efforts, especially in contexts with ambiguous requirements or deadline‑driven contracts (e.g., RFPs).
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Advocate for engineering while listening and understanding deeply the product and business needs.
  • A solution‑focused mindset:
You don’t dwell in the problem—you organize, collaborate, and adapt.
  • Passion for clean, maintainable code and coding standards
  • Solid critical‑thinking and decision‑making skills
  • Proficient in finding creative solutions to complex problems
  • Ability to collaborate positively with colleagues
Bonus Skills (Not Required):
  • Point of Sale Experience
Salary Range:
  • $155,000 to $185,000 depending on alignment with Job Description
What We Offer:
  • 401(k) with company match
  • Professional development and career growth opportunities
