Description

Wood Rodgers’ Environmental Department is seeking a Biologist / Environmental Planner to join the Wood Rodgers team.

Wood Rodgers provides forward-thinking environmental and engineering solutions for a diverse range of public and private projects. Our expertise spans local, state, and federally funded initiatives, with a core focus on transportation and water resources. We specialize in designing and implementing solutions for roadways, bridges, highways, interchanges, bicycle and pedestrian pathways, flood control systems, stormwater management, levees, pump stations, and various private development projects.

Join us in developing innovative strategies to address environmental challenges on impactful projects within your community, across the region, and throughout California.

The ideal candidate will have 3-7 years of experience working in a similar role, helping to complete biological field surveys, prepare written documentation of findings; and/or provide environmental support during construction.

This is a staffed, hourly, non-exempt position.

A day in the life as a Wood Rodgers' Biologist
  • Conduct literature research and biological record searches.
  • Complete biological field surveys, consisting of general biological reconnaissance, wildlife habitat assessments, wetland delineations, focused botanical surveys, etc.
  • Collect field data using handheld GPS devices.
  • Develop solutions for complex biological settings.
  • Write technical reports supporting survey and monitoring results, including but not limited to, Biological Resources Reports, Biological Assessments, Natural Environment Study, Water Quality Assessment Reports, migratory nesting bird survey reports, daily monitoring logs of environmental commitments, monthly compliance reports, restoration site monitoring reports, etc.
  • Prepare and secure regulatory permits including but not limited to Clean Water Act Section 404 and Section 401, California Department of Fish and Wildlife Section 1602, Federal and State Endangered Species Take Authorizations,
