Senior Manager Software Engineering - Mid Level Software

This role has been designed as ‘Hybrid’ with an expectation that you will work on average 2 days per week from an HPE office.

As a Software Project Manager for the Mid-Level Software organization, you will partner with Product Management, Hardware, Mechanical, Testing and other Software teams to define and manage a prioritized body of work a development team will deliver. Your team will work on the introduction and maintenance of new hardware platforms to compete in the campus and data center networking industry. You will ensure the team completes not just development but also assists in requirement definition, design, documentation and automated test development.

Recruits and supports development of direct staff members, managing a team of 8 to 12 direct reports, ranging from junior to senior software developers. You will work with a Software Architect with technical responsibility for the team’s feature area and typically report to a Director of Software.

• Provides direct and ongoing leadership for a team of individual contributors designing and developing software to enable new hardware products or new features for existing hardware. Coordinates projects for systems software, including Network Telemetry Flow.
• Manages headcount, deliverables, schedules, and costs for multiple ongoing projects, ensuring that resources are appropriately allocated and that goals, objectives, timelines, and budgets are met in accordance with program and organizational roadmaps.
• Communicates project status and escalates issues to direct managers, program managers, and internal and external development partners.
• Proactively identifies opportunities for process improvement and cost reductions.
• Provides people‑care management for assigned team members, including hiring, setting and monitoring annual performance plans, coaching, and career development. Ensures that proper knowledge and career development tools are in place to support ongoing team member and process development, fostering innovation.

• BS in Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science or equivalent technical degree.
• May have an advanced university degree.
• 10 or more years of software development experience with a minimum of 3 years of leadership in software development.
• Minimum 3 years experience in C or C++ development.
