Job Summary

This position supports Metro District’s planning efforts using a variety of data sources and tools to advance multimodal transportation planning implementation and integrate modal considerations into MnDOT’s project development processes.

The position will report to the Metro District Multimodal Planning Director and will be responsible for the following:

  • Lead and support multimodal transportation planning studies and activities, including analyses, GIS work, internal/external coordination, complete streets documentation, and participating in project design discussions.
  • Lead Multimodal Planning’s activities in Metro District’s review of local government development proposals adjacent to MnDOT right-of-way.
  • Perform other responsibilities and initiatives, as assigned by the Multimodal Planning Director.

This position is located at Metro District headquarters in Roseville and has the flexibility to work in the office or a hybrid schedule that includes in office and teleworking time. If working a hybrid schedule, the incumbent will be required to make a telework arrangement with their supervisor. The incumbent will be expected to work in the office as determined by policy and discussion with their supervisor.

The Minnesota Department of Transportation does not sponsor applicants for work visas or Optional Practical Training Extensions for STEM Students. Individuals must be legally authorized to work in the US at the start of employment.

Qualifications Minimum Qualifications

A bachelor’s or master’s degree in Planning, Geography, Urban Studies, Sociology, or Political Science

OR

One (1) year of professional level transportation planning experience (e.g., Planner-MAPE 5L or higher)

Transportation planning experience must include:

  • Support planning studies and/or planning processes
  • Experience using ArcGIS
  • Preparation of professional written communication (e.g., reports, studies, etc.)
  • Delivering presentations
