RCO Engineering is seeking an experienced Corporate Controller to join our team and support a growing, low‑volume/high‑mix manufacturing organization. This role is ideal for a highly organized, detail‑driven professional with a deep command of accounting principles, cost accounting practices, and financial reporting standards.
About the RoleThe Corporate Controller will blend hands‑on accounting responsibilities with strategic leadership. This position oversees accurate financial reporting, ensures compliance with regulatory and internal standards, and provides critical financial insights to support day‑to‑day business decisions. You’ll work closely with cross‑functional teams, guide accounting staff, and help strengthen financial processes across the organization.
Key Responsibilities- Lead and mentor the day‑to‑day accounting functions including accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, fixed assets, and general ledger
- Oversee and manage month‑end and year‑end close processes ensuring compliance with GAAP and internal policies
- Support resolution of aged accounts receivable invoices and vendor invoice discrepancies
- Gather supporting documentation, prepare and post monthly journal entries
- Review general ledger account reconciliations and provide support to resolve reconciling items
- Prepare, review and analyze monthly financial statements
- Maintain and enhance internal controls, accounting procedures, and compliance frameworks
- Monitor and manage inventory, cost of goods sold and production‑related expenditures
- Participate in special projects, team training, and development
- Coordinate with external accountants and auditors for tax filings, audits, and compliance reviews
- Support compliance with RCO Quality Policies
- Identify process improvements and leverage technology to enhance efficiency
- Oversee ERP/accounting system processes and improvements
- Perform other duties as assigned or directed
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance
- 10+ years of progressive accounting experience, including at least 5 years in a leadership role
- Strong technical knowledge of GAAP and financial reporting standards
- Proficiency in ERP accounting software and advanced Excel skills
- Excellent knowledge of accounting and financial processes
- Knowledge in managing payroll, with a focus on streamlining accounting processes
- Strong understanding of banking processes and financial data analysis
- Working knowledge of national and local tax regulations and compliance reporting
- Strong analytical, organizational, and leadership abilities
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and discretion in all proprietary business, financial, and employee matters
- Excellent communications skills and the ability to work effectively with ownership, management, and operational teams
- Efficient in Microsoft Suite of products
- Effective interpersonal skills
- Ability to work as a team player
