Wieland is hiring a Head Machinist for the Lathe Department. The Head Machinist will be responsible for programming, set-up and monitoring lathe machines to customer specifications. This role is located in Roseville, Michigan and will be fully on-site.
Pay: $33.00 - $37.00 per hour
Schedule: 7:00 am - 3:30 pm

Responsibilities
Head Machinist Responsibilities:
- Responsible for setup of all bar fed production lathes and chucking lathes
- Writes all programs for lathe department
- Purchases/Modifies tooling required for specific jobs as needed
- Schedules all orders on Lathes to achieve on-time delivery
- Maintains the department's machinery and tooling
- Setup, calibrate, and use analog & digital inspection instruments.
- Monitors quality of products machined on all lathes
- Schedules the saw department for production bars to meet schedule
- Collaborates with Mill Department for secondary operations, as needed
- Other duties as assigned
- Associates degree or work experience equivalent
- Experience machining or a technical trade
- Able to work with minimum supervision
- Ability to follow verbal & written instructions
- Ability to perform computations
- Ability to work independently
- Ability to make work-related decisions based on deadlines and customer specifications
- Ability to read and understand blueprints, CAD software and setup specs for production including tooling
