Role Snapshot — Roseville, MI
Step into a fast-moving operation where you’ll own the flow of goods from our docks to our customers’ hands. As the Distribution & Dock Operations Manager, you’ll keep shipments on schedule, incoming materials accounted for, and every pallet handled safely and accurately.
A Day in the Life- Kick off the shift by reviewing outbound schedules, inbound receipts, and inventory exceptions.
- Assign dock doors, balance labor across lanes, and brief the team on safety and priorities.
- Coordinate with carriers and vendors to time arrivals/departures and clear up any discrepancies.
- Verify documentation (bills of lading, packing slips) and ensure system updates are spot‑on.
- Walk the floor to audit loading/unloading accuracy and stock counts with the warehouse team.
- Close the day by reviewing shipping/receiving KPIs to spot wins and opportunities to improve.
- Oversee all shipping and receiving operations to ensure accuracy, timeliness, and product integrity.
- Lead, train, and coach the dock and receiving team; foster a supportive, collaborative environment.
- Create and refine SOPs that streamline shipping/receiving processes and reduce errors.
- Monitor inventory levels and partner with warehouse staff to maintain precise stock records.
- Enforce safety standards and company policies across the dock and warehouse.
- Schedule shipments, track pickups/deliveries, and resolve issues with carriers and vendors.
- Prepare and maintain complete documentation, including bills of lading and packing slips.
- Analyze operational metrics to drive continuous improvement.
- Proven leadership experience in shipping/receiving management or a closely related logistics role.
- Hands‑on knowledge of shipping platforms and inventory management systems.
- Forklift operation experience; current certification/license preferred.
- High school diploma or GED required; a degree in logistics or supply chain is a plus.
- Familiarity with the HVAC industry is a strong plus.
