Roseville Area Schools has a vacancy for a Teacher on Special Assignment with The Office of Educational Equity. This 1.0 FTE position will have district wide responsibilities primarily focused on leading literacy E-12, providing professional development, and equity coaching. This position will start August 25, 2025.
Job SummaryThe Equity Advancement Literacy Lead will lead the work of enacting all components of the READ Act. This position will also lead English Language Arts (ELA) curriculum E-12, professional development (including planning, communication, and the professional development calendar), and literacy interventions E-12. The lead must have a strong vision and understanding of equity work. This position should also have a high level of knowledge regarding equity policy and professional development.

Qualifications Minimum- Strong racial equity focus and culturally responsive equity mindset
- K-12 MN Teacher License
- At least 3 years of teaching experience
- Strong communication skills and ability to facilitate groups
- LETRS Certification
- Background in curriculum development
- Strong professional development skills
- Experience in project management
- Experience in teaching literacy at elementary and/or secondary levels
- Understands and effectively supports the implementation of the READ ACT
- Coordinates the completion of the annual Local Literacy Plan (Read Well By 3rd Grade)
- Coordinates LETRS professional development for all staff E-12
- Coordinates ELA professional development for all staff E-12
- Leads the district’s Literacy Intervention efforts and professional development
- Supports the implementation of Structured Literacy, interventions, curriculum delivery, and teacher training and professional development
- Participates in the Regional Literacy Network for alignment with literacy initiatives across the state and to collaborate with Literacy Network colleagues
- Understands and effectively supports the educational curriculum and instruction compass areas including equity pedagogy, culturally relevant content, collective knowledge creation, and social justice orientation
- Provides professional development, training, support, and collaboration in assigned areas for principals, teachers and other staff as needed
- Coordinates E-12 professional development activities district wide to include: maintaining the professional development calendar, communicating the professional development plans, and evaluating the professional development program as it relates to literacy
- Provides professional development and training opportunities for staff to assist them with implementation of READ ACT and district professional development literacy focus
- Observes and coaches teachers in effective literacy instructional practices
- Trains paraprofessionals and other support staff to support classroom literacy instruction
- Provides vision and leadership for professional learning communities district wide that lead to the elimination of racial disparities through the use of a race-based data protocol and culturally responsive teaching as it relates to literacy development
- Coordinates and leads E-12 ELA with a focus on absent and counter narratives
- Leads others in data informed decision making to create an equitable literacy program to increase student engagement and eliminate racial disparities in achievement, participation, and relationships
- Provides leadership and equitable vision for E-12 ELA curriculum teams in the Curriculum and Program Review System
- Knowledgeable of current trends in literacy curriculum development, backwards design, MN English Language Arts state standards, Professional Learning Communities, and creating inclusive curriculum
- Provides support for E-6 literacy program in Fundations, Wit and Wisdom, Just Words, and Heggerty
- Communicates E-12 literacy progress to administration, District Curriculum Advisory Committee, and School Board
