Roseville Area Schools has a vacancy at Roseville Area High School for an Ojibwe or Dakota language teacher for the school year. This is a 0.16 FTE position for Trimesters 2 and 3 beginning December 7, 2026. The Ojibwe or Dakota language class is a new class at Roseville Area High School. The Ojibwe or Dakota language teacher will be tasked with developing and implementing the language curriculum.
This position will teach one class in Trimester 2 (12/7/26-3/05/27) and one class in Trimester 3 (3/16/27-6/10/27).
- Deliver high-quality Ojibwe or Dakota language instruction by integrating comprehensive literacy skills (reading, writing, speaking, and listening) into lesson plans that foster a deep appreciation for Ojibwe or Dakota language, culture, history, and sovereignty.
- Create a classroom environment that fosters curiosity, respect, and an inclusive space for students.
- Apply developmentally appropriate, Ojibwe-centered or Dakota-centered, and culturally grounded instructional practices to support student learning.
- Differentiated instruction to meet the diverse linguistic, cultural, and academic needs of students.
- Integrate technology and digital tools to enhance student engagement and learning.
- Design and develop a comprehensive Ojibwe or Dakota Level I course, including a scope and sequence and formative and summative assessments to track student progress.
- Engage in ongoing professional learning and reflective practice to strengthen instruction and support continuous program improvement.
- Other duties as assigned.
- Current teaching license in American Indian Language, History, and Culture and/or holds a credential for teaching Ojibwe or Dakota language and culture; or is willing to work towards licensure.
- Proficient in Ojibwe or Dakota Language.
- Knowledge of history, culture, and lifeways of the tribes in Minnesota.
- Experience teaching Ojibwe or Dakota (preferred secondary setting) and/or have relevant post-secondary education and background knowledge.
Minimum full year, full time starting salary is $53,085 (prorated based on FTE).
