Position: Assistant State Signals & Lighting Engineer (Traffic Engineer)

Apply by midnight, July  this position, you will provide specialized guidance for the design and operation of traffic control signals and roadway lighting; and review, coordinate, and develop uniform statewide policies, procedures, and standards for signal and lighting design and operation.

Responsibilities include:

Direct the development and participate in the review and coordination of uniform statewide policies, procedures, and standards for signal design and operation.

Coordinate with all MnDOT districts on signal operations and signal shared services.

Represent interests of other Minnesota public agencies in signal design and operation decisions.

Provide technical support for traffic electrical systems training programs.

Coordinate and manage the evaluation of new products and methods for traffic electrical designs and operation.

Managing and working on traffic signal related projects.

Act as technical liaison for miscellaneous research and implementation projects.

Provide engineering assistance to MnDOT’s Connected and Automated Vehicle Program with a focus on traffic signal control devices.

This position is located in Roseville, Minnesota and has the flexibility to work a hybrid schedule, or work in the office. If working a hybrid schedule, the incumbent will be required to make a telework arrangement with their supervisor. The incumbent will be expected to work in the office as determined by policy and discussion with their supervisor.
