The Wildlife Rehabilitation Center (WRC) is seeking a full-time Philanthropy Manager to connect with our dedicated donor base and develop long-term, meaningful relationships with clients and future donors. We have a small communications team and this is the first time in our history we will have a dedicated development position. As such, we are looking for someone with documented success in working with clients to develop and increase giving plans.

The Philanthropy Manager is responsible for identifying, cultivating, soliciting, and stewarding donors to support WRC’s mission. This role will prioritize mid-level and major operational gifts, while supporting overall individual giving through broad communications and development campaigns.

Responsibilities Include:
  • Create WRC’s annual and 3-year development strategies, working with our communications and development staff
  • Cultivate and steward relationships with major donors and strategic partners to grow philanthropic support
  • Conduct regular donor meetings, developing individualized plans to help people feel connected to our mission
  • Share WRC’s mission through one-on-one site visits with donors
  • Create and implement a plan for engaging sustaining donors
  • Identify and pursue new grants, and opportunities to increase revenue with existing grant partners
  • Serve as point of contact for corporate and community partnerships
  • Grow WRC’s pool of donors/corporations who provide matching grants for fundraising events
  • Support Communications and Development staff on individual giving campaigns:
    Appeals, monthly giving, and online campaigns including Give to the Max Day, our annual baby shower and our website’s patient sponsorship listings
  • Serve as an accessible, knowledgeable, and enthusiastic representative of WRC's mission
Details:
  • Position is on-site in Roseville, Minn., with off-site work focused on in-person donor meetings
  • Candidate must have a valid driver’s license and use of personal vehicle
  • Philanthropy manager reports to Communications & Development Director, and will work closely with Executive Director
  • WRC is open 365 days a year. Position includes working on evenings and weekends; and possibly holidays.
  • WRC has hundreds of animal patients on site. Animal care areas are noisy, odorous, and contain allergens (including animal dander and peanuts). You may be exposed to zoonotic diseases. All WRC positions require commitment to following WRC protocols and safety manual guidelines.
  • WRC is a unique, fast-paced, and team-oriented work environment. This is an exciting time to join WRC as we are in the midst of a $15 million capital campaign for our state-of-the-art rehabilitation campus.
Minimum Qualifications:
  • Minimum of 5 years of progressive experience in development/donor relations, or the equivalent, with a nonprofit organization
  • Demonstrated success in fostering and growing individual gifts
  • Experience building authentic and meaningful relationships with donors
  • Experience in managing and tracking multiple prospects and donors
  • Excellent communication skills via face-to-face conversations, in writing, and on the phone
  • Energy and passion to connect WRC’s mission with people to help increase operating revenue through major gifts during a $15 million capital campaign
  • Commitment to being a respectful and cooperative member of the team
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience managing a major gift portfolio of 100-150 donors
  • Ability to connect with others and communicate WRC’s mission in one-on-one and group settings
  • Successful in seeking and acquiring new grants
  • Experience in developing relationships with high-net-worth individuals
  • Strong organizational and project management skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines
  • Ability to focus and prioritize work in a fast-paced, ever-evolving environment
Compensation and Benefits:
  • Position is full time, averaging 40hrs/wk. Position is salaried at $85,000/year.

  • Employer contribution of 3% to 403(b) retirement plan, regardless of your contribution amount
