Compensation

The starting pay range for this position per hour is $23.75 – $25.75. The full pay range for this position per hour is $23.75 – $40.40. Pay is based on several factors which vary based on position, including labor markets, education, work experience, and certifications.

Position Summary

The Inbound Operations Team Leader leads inbound, outbound, replenishment, and promotional signing processes for all General Merchandise and Food Sales areas. The role ensures efficient delivery to guests, maintains a safe and compliant environment, and develops and manages a team of hourly team members.

Responsibilities
  • Provide an Easy, Inspiring and Friendly guest experience by consistently delivering Target’s guest experience commitments.
  • Observe, provide feedback, and hold team members accountable while recognizing positive guest experience moments.
  • Review guest, financial, and team outcome metrics to identify opportunities, take action to improve, and align the team on desired behaviors and execution.
  • Plan and execute daily/weekly workload to support business priorities, sales goals, and guest engagement.
  • Lead and communicate expertise in operations, freshness, accuracy, and efficiency.
  • Assign daily tasks to team members based on planned workload and guest traffic patterns.
  • Assess GM backroom and sales floor areas, identify gaps, and develop plans to resolve issues.
  • Ensure product availability, accurate pricing, and consistent merchandising for a positive guest experience.
  • Assist with organizational and operational changes and follow up on changes as directed by leadership.
  • Build a team of GM Experts from selection through onboarding and ongoing training.
  • Model and reinforce a culture of safety, ethical conduct, and compliance, including incident response and reporting.
  • Support merchandise protection strategies, physical security processes, and store-level leadership on duty as needed.
  • Provide guest services such as back‑up cashier, order pick‑up, and Drive‑Up while maintaining compliance with regulations.
  • Perform additional duties as required by business needs.
Qualifications
  • High school diploma or equivalent, age 18 or older.
  • Previous retail experience preferred but not required.
  • Strong leadership skills with ability to interview, develop, coach, evaluate, and retain team members.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills with a welcoming, helpful attitude toward guests and team members.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team, manage workload, prioritize tasks, and remain focused in a fast‑paced environment.
  • Capacity to handle repetitive physical tasks (lifting, carrying, moving up to 44 pounds) and work in varying temperatures and conditions.
  • Flexible with a variable schedule, including nights, weekends, holidays, and peak shopping times.
  • Can climb ladders and operate median‑sized equipment as required.
  • Ability to authenticate cash register operations and scan, handle, and move merchandise safely and efficiently.
