Position Overview:
The Controller is responsible for leading accounting operations while supervising HR functions, ensuring accurate financial reporting, compliance, and effective workforce cost management within a construction-focused organization.
Key Responsibilities:
- Oversee general accounting operations including payroll, accruals, and reconciliations using Quick Books Online
- Supervise HR processes including payroll administration, benefits oversight, and compliance
- Partner with leadership on compensation and benefits cost analysis for field and project-based employees
- Ensure compliance with labor laws, tax regulations, and internal controls
- Develop and maintain financial reporting and forecasting models related to workforce costs
- Support audits related to payroll, benefits, and employee-related expenses
- Analyze workforce metrics to support strategic decision-making
Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field required; CPA or advanced degree preferred
7+ years of accounting or finance experience with exposure to HR or payroll functions
Construction or project-based industry experience preferred
Strong knowledge of payroll systems, benefits administration, and compliance requirements
Experience with Quick Books Online or similar accounting platforms
Advanced Excel and ERP system experience
Excellent communication skills with ability to lead and collaborate cross-functionally
