High Meadows School & Camp in North Atlanta (Roswell), Georgia is seeking an experienced educator to serve as a 1st Grade Long-Term Substitute Co-Lead Teacher for approximately six weeks. This temporary position will join an established co-teaching classroom and work in close partnership with the other 1st grade co-lead teacher to provide continuity, care, and engaging learning for students throughout the assignment.

High Meadows uses a co-teaching model in Pre-K through 3rd grade. The long-term substitute will be a consistent member of the 1st grade teaching team. Working alongside the classroom co-lead teacher, this educator will help maintain established routines, support planned learning experiences, participate in classroom responsibilities, and build meaningful relationships with students and families.
Our 42-acre wooded campus - with meadows, forest, outdoor learning spaces, and an active barnyard - extends learning well beyond four classroom walls. Students are encouraged to ask questions, explore ideas, collaborate, and take an active role in their learning.

The successful candidate will be motivated, nurturing, creative, self-directed, and highly collaborative. This position requires excellent communication and interpersonal skills; an understanding of the academic, social, behavioral, and emotional development of early elementary children; comfort working in a teaching partnership; and the ability to nurture and appropriately challenge each student. Experience with positive discipline in a progressive educational setting is preferred.

Comfortable working with a team to design learning environments that are focused on creativity and innovation, striving to challenge students to a deeper thinking level and to develop a yearning for greater understanding.

• Two to three years of recent teaching experience (within the past five years) as a classroom teacher or similar experience with children.
• Bachelor's degree; a degree in Education is preferred.
• Recent experience working with early elementary-age children; 1st grade experience is preferred.
• Ability to work collaboratively in a co‑teaching model and provide consistent classroom support for the full assignment.
• Progressive education, co‑teaching, multi‑age classroom, and/or IB/PYP experience preferred.
• Willingness to complete required school training and background‑screening requirements.
