Parts Development Powertrain Assistant Manager
Responsibilities- Understand program sourcing and key milestones in support of launch.
- Identify potential suppliers, analyze capabilities, determine price, and select suppliers with Engineering and/or other relevant teams.
- Select, develop, and manage the supply base of assigned commodities by: preparing and owning RFIs, RFPs and RFQs for multi-year full production volume; preparing bid packages, conducting bidder conferences, evaluating proposals, negotiating with suppliers, and administering resulting contracts.
- Negotiate long-term agreements and maintain best-in-class pricing.
- Lead cost reduction activities.
- Develop all assigned commodities with sourced suppliers meeting all required specifications and timing.
- Evaluate and provide guidance on final selection of suppliers. Assess supplier core competencies and cost competitiveness using HKMC and industry should-cost models.
- Direct, manage and guide suppliers from cradle to grave through HMG’s established Parts Development process and activities.
- Develop and achieve target quality levels at each milestone from development to mass production; establish improvement plans/countermeasures for problematic parts/suppliers or issues impacting quality and delivery.
- Drive flawless launches at assigned supplier sites, collaborating with cross-functional teams with adherence to ISIR (PPAP); detect and respond to issues related to quality, cost, and delivery.
- Hold effective working-level meetings with suppliers/partners for fast issue closure and relationship development.
- Continuously negotiate with suppliers for best-in-class piece price and tooling cost to achieve target vehicle cost.
- Develop purchasing strategies with Engineering, Quality, Production, and other relevant teams.
- Monitor and support preventing disruptions in the supply chain to avoid impact to HMGMA.
- Work collaboratively with Engineering (R&D), Quality, and Production Planners.
- Plan, organize and disseminate information related to production and potential suppliers.
- Maintain up-to-date supply base information database.
- Hire, develop, train, and manage a number of Buyers (Specialists).
- Meet all other requirements as assigned.

What You Will Bring to the Role- Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Business Management, Supply Chain, Finance or Accounting or related field from accredited university.
- High proficiency in Microsoft Office Suites, especially Excel and PowerPoint.
- Experience and qualifications (preferred):
- Minimum 5 years of related job experience;
Automotive industry experience in Purchasing, APQP, PPAP, Supplier Development/Engineering, Launch, Program Management, or related fields strongly preferred. - Experience in manufacturing processes (injection molding, press, stamping, die casting, welding, assembly, paint, chroming and other surface treatments, foaming, cut & sew, SMC, extrusion, SMT, various raw materials, etc.). Experience with Engines and Transmissions highly preferred.
- Experience with OEM or major commodity suppliers strongly preferred.
- Experience in understanding, analyzing, and breaking down piece price.
- Bilingual preferred – ability to read, write, and speak any two combinations of English, Korean, and/or Spanish fluently.
