Job Description
The Engineering & Construction group is responsible for the execution of all capital projects related to water production, wastewater treatment, water distribution, wastewater collection and stormwater conveyance. GC Water Resources’ total 6-year Capital Improvement Program exceeds $1 billion for both vertical (facility) and linear construction projects.
We are seeking a highly experienced leader to be responsible for maintaining excellent partnerships and positive communication with internal and external customers, including contractors and vendors. This position will manage a 50+ person team of engineers, construction managers, and inspectors who ensure projects are completed on time and within budget. Candidates must have a proven track record of preparing bid documents, successful delivery of capital improvement projects and financial planning.
The incumbent may work closely with other departments including Transportation, Purchasing, and Support Services among others. Additionally, knowledge of regulatory compliance, environmental permitting, and public procurement procedures are required.
This position will monitor scope, schedule and budget for projects and maintain appropriate workloads and project assignments for team members. Strong written and verbal communication skills are needed to ensure positive communication with the public, including conducting public outreach before and during project implementation, and providing effective, timely responses to community questions and concerns.
Candidates must have excellent problem solving and negotiating skills and the ability to communicate effectively with leadership, peers, team members and the public. The ideal candidate should have extensive experience in engineering design and construction management of municipal projects, as well as experience managing a diverse team. Previous experience working with Departments of Transportation or Public Works is a plus.
Grade and CompensationGrade: 305. Salary will be dependent on education and experience. Effective 4/11/2023, this position is eligible for the Employee Referral Program.
Minimum Qualifications- Bachelor's degree in Engineering or closely related field AND
- Eleven years of progressively responsible experience related to the area of assignment, including two years' experience as a manager; an equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job such as those listed above will also be considered.
- Professional Engineer (PE) License
