Definition/Scope

Responsible for developing and instructing Driver Training Academy’s, EMT‑Basic Training Academy’s, EMT Advanced Training Academy’s, EMT‑Paramedic Training Academy’s and EMT‑Paramedic Ventilator & Critical Care Training Academy’s.

• Responsible for developing and instructing Driver Training Academy programs.
• Responsible for developing and instructing EMT‑Basic Training Academy programs.
• Responsible for developing and instructing EMT‑Advanced Training Academy programs.
• Responsible for developing and instructing EMT‑Paramedic Training Academy programs.
• Responsible for developing and instructing EMT‑Paramedic Ventilator Training Academy programs.
• Responsible for developing and instructing EMT‑Paramedic Critical Care Training Academy programs.
• Responsible for developing, scheduling, monitoring and ensuring a high‑quality field precepting program for Academy students with field ambulance crews.
• Responsible for developing, scheduling, monitoring and ensuring a high‑quality clinical site precepting program for Academy students with hospital staff.
• Demonstrates complete knowledge, understanding and compliance with company policies, procedures and regulatory requirements.
• Ensures the security of buildings, vehicles, equipment, medications and all other company property.
• Ensures the security of all company computer systems by adhering to security procedures and utilizing appropriate password policies.
• Adheres to Universal Precautions/Body Substance Isolation when dealing with patient contacts.
• Familiar with and practices the Infection Control policies and procedures of the company.
• Accepts responsibility for recertification as a Paramedic and for other required licenses and certifications as required by company, local, regional, and state policies, regulations or laws.
• Maintains the security and privacy of all confidential and proprietary company information at all times in accordance with company policy.
• Always maintains the security and privacy of all company and patient information in accordance with HIPAA and all other local, state and federal regulations.
• Acts at all times with personal safety in mind, as well as the safety of others.
• Reports to assigned shifts on time, properly groomed in uniform and on time unless the proper notification has been made, and remains on duty and in proper uniform until properly relieved.
• At all times sets an example of professionalism and leadership for others to follow.
• Assures all company goals, objectives and procedures are followed on a daily basis.
• Performs other duties as directed by management.

• All EMT requirements.
• Currently licensed Paramedic.
• Strong problem‑solving skills.
• Ability to mentor and supervise staff.
• Knowledgeable in medical terminology.
• Solid verbal and written communication skills.
• Proficient in ambulance patient care field documentation.
• Education and/or experience in adult education and training.
• Excellent administrative skills and highly detail‑oriented.
• Strong project management, time management, and leadership skills.
• Ability to manage competing priorities in a fast‑paced environment.
• Ability to work independently on a broad variety of projects.
• Punctual and able to meet deadlines as assigned.
• Proficient with all Microsoft Office software packages.
• Minimum of four years’ experience in emergency medical services training.
• Certification as EMT and Paramedic Instructor in appropriate states.
  • Must obtain all within one year of hire.
• Instructor certifications for CPR, ACLS, PALS, PHTLS, BTLS, CEVO.
  • Must obtain all within one year of hire.
• Associate or bachelor’s degree in education or emergency medical services preferred.

• The ability to sit or stand for long periods of time.
• The ability to complete all job duties during any and all hours of the day and night.
• The ability to use mouse or keyboard to input data into a computer over long periods of time.
• The ability to view graphic and text data on multiple computer screens for long periods of time.
