Overview
The Network Administrator is responsible for designing, setting up, and managing network systems across the district. This role involves ensuring the smooth operation of networking devices and systems through regular maintenance and timely repairs. Key responsibilities include providing expert advice on network setups and configurations, swiftly resolving network issues to maintain operational efficiency, and offering technical support to district and site staff.
This position is a full-time in-person role.
- Education:
High school diploma or GED equivalent - Bachelor’s degree in job related area highly preferred
- Certification/License:
Criminal Justice Fingerprint - Background Clearance
- Work Experience:
Minimum one (1) year experience in installation, maintenance, management, and troubleshooting of network hardware and networking systems
- Skills-based
Competencies:
Planning and managing projects; preparing and maintaining accurate records including time estimates and schedules; reading entity-relationship diagrams; supervising staff and project groups; using pertinent software applications. - Knowledge-based
Competencies:
Current generation and legacy application programming languages; systems design; process and data modeling techniques; technologies and tools; project management. - Ability-based
Competencies:
Scheduling activities and/or meetings; gathering, classifying data; working with diverse individuals; effective communication with varied technical backgrounds; meeting deadlines; handling interruptions. Problem solving with data and equipment may require independent interpretation.
- Administer and maintain district network infrastructure, including switches, firewalls, WAN/LAN connectivity, load balancing, SIEM, and IDS/IPS systems
- Configure, monitor, troubleshoot, and repair network, server, telephony, and security systems to ensure reliable operation and performance
- Support and maintain virtual server environments, including VMware and Nutanix platforms
- Manage endpoint imaging, software deployment, patch management, and Software Center operations
- Perform system security hardening, updates, and compliance maintenance for servers, workstations, and network systems
- Install, configure, test, and maintain hardware, software, and network services to support district operations
- Monitor system performance, capacity, and resource utilization; recommend improvements and long-term solutions
- Research and evaluate technology solutions and provide technical recommendations for district projects and purchases
- Create and maintain technical documentation, procedures, reports, and support materials
- Coordinate with vendors and technical support providers to diagnose and resolve hardware and software issues
- Participate in meetings, training, and professional development activities
- Perform other related duties as assigned
