Overview
We are seeking a highly experienced and results-driven Senior Buyer to support procurement operations within a high-performance aerospace manufacturing environment. This role is critical to ensuring the uninterrupted flow of both direct and indirect materials required for the production and assembly of turbojet engines. The ideal candidate brings strong technical acumen, disciplined execution of procurement processes, and a proactive, solutions-oriented mindset.
Success in this role requires the ability to manage complex supplier relationships, navigate long lead-time components, and collaborate effectively across engineering, manufacturing, and supply chain functions to support operational excellence and on-time delivery.
- Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain, Business, Engineering, or related field, or 7+ years of relevant procurement experience
- 5+ years of procurement experience within aerospace, turbine, or engine manufacturing environments
- Proven knowledge of sourcing strategies, purchase order lifecycle management, and supplier performance management
- Hands-on experience working with ERP/MRP systems in a manufacturing setting
- Strong analytical, negotiation, and problem-solving skills
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to influence cross-functional teams
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced, evolving environment
- Self-motivated with a high level of accountability and ownership
- U.S. citizenship required due to federal defense contracting regulations
- Execute end-to-end procurement processes for direct materials, including planning, purchase order placement, and expediting
- Monitor and maintain accurate delivery dates across all open purchase orders
- Proactively identify and mitigate supply chain risks to ensure on-time delivery
- Manage procurement of indirect categories including repairs, tooling, engineering services, NRE, and facility-related purchases
- Ensure timely processing and execution of purchase requisitions
- Develop and manage component schedules aligned with production and inventory requirements
- Procure and manage long lead-time hardware (6+ months), ensuring supply continuity
- Develop, evaluate, and manage supplier relationships to ensure performance in cost, quality, and delivery
- Conduct supplier follow-ups, performance reviews, and continuous improvement initiatives
- Partner with engineering, manufacturing, and quality teams to resolve supply, design, and quality issues
- Support new product introductions and production ramp-up activities
- Maintain a strong internal and external customer focus
- Build and sustain positive relationships to drive responsiveness and service excellence
- Maintain accurate and complete procurement documentation in compliance with company and regulatory requirements
- Ensure adherence to procurement policies, procedures, and defense contracting standards
- Identify and implement process improvements to enhance procurement efficiency, cost savings, and supply chain resilience
- Support strategic sourcing initiatives and operational excellence goals
