position overview

the sr. Inventory manager position contributes to the success of the company by deploying inventory to achieve financial goals as well as customer service levels. The inventory manager position requires an individual with a great understanding of the business environment as well as detailed knowledge of the inventory planning software suite. Some of the responsibilities of the inventory manager include: manage a team that establishes and maintains year‑round replenishment plans for multiple regions, develop and maintain outstanding relationships with key field leaders, oversee all demand planning functions for supported branches, hit annual in‑stock and turns goals.

you’ll do
  • inventory planning
    • develop overall replenishment & inventory management best practices, and ensure we deliver against the company’s sales and working capital objectives
    • manage seasonal load‑in and exit strategies, ensure buy‑in from field leaders and flawless execution
    • review and create sustainable action plans to solve exceptions: stock out, stock low, and excess / unproductive inventory
    • meet turns objectives for supported regions, and ensure inventory best practices are documented and executed in all branches/areas
  • demand planning
    • own end‑to‑end demand planning process for your supported branches
    • be a subject‑matter expert on the jda demand planning functionality
    • ensure exceptions are being managed regularly
    • work with supply chain systems resources and ensure the team has the tools and resources needed to be successful in their role
  • team development & leadership
    • leads a team of 2–4 regional inventory managers
    • responsible for overall team performance and professional development.
    • will own and deliver against 1–2 key supply chain projects
    • develop excellent working relationships with all regional vice presidents.
    • report out on all aspects of team and regional performance, including but not limited to:
      1) in‑stock %, inventory turns/dio, execution of major programs (including sku transitions), forecast accuracy
skills we are seeking
  • four‑year university degree or equivalent in supply chain management, business administration, or finance
  • 3+ years of demand planning and replenishment management experience in a wholesale or retail environment
  • detail oriented, self‑starter
  • excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • strong interpersonal skills
  • able to interact with management team, including senior management
  • understand the linkages between distribution requirements planning and other supply chain processes such as demand planning, inventory planning, procurement, and transportation.
  • understand distribution strategies, products, markets, and customers, business experience in retail, operations, logistics, distribution, and inventory management.
  • familiar with transaction systems and decision‑support tools, database creation and manipulation, spreadsheets, word processing.
